Location
Edinburgh is a European capital city and home to the Scottish Parliament. It is the second largest financial centre in the UK and consistently voted one of the most desirable places to visit or live. With an expanding population of over 470,000, Edinburgh also attracts nearly 5 million visitors annually, drawn by the City’s many sights, festivals and celebrations.
Lochrin Square is located in Edinburgh’s established Exchange District. Situated between Edinburgh Quay (a mixed use office, residential and leisure development), the Scottish Widows Headquarters and the Bank of Scotland’s new Banking Centre, Lochrin Square occupies a high profile position in the commercial heart of a thriving city. The area has seen substantial development and is one of the City’s most vibrant new mixed use quarters.
Lochrin Square is within ten minutes walk of both Princes Street and Haymarket railway station, and within a few minutes bus ride from Edinburgh Waverley Station. It is ideally placed for access by road to the City Bypass, West Edinburgh and Edinburgh International Airport. The area is well served by buses, and is close to the new tram route due to open by 2011. It also lies on the designated footpath and cycle way from the Union Canal to the City Centre.
In addition to the ground floor restaurant at No 1 Lochrin Square, a variety of restaurants and bars can be found at nearby Edinburgh Quay and Fountain Park leisure complex. These are complemented by a wider offering of city centre retail outlets along nearby Lothian Road and Princes Street.
Local leisure amenities include the Cineworld and Odeon Cinemas, Megabowl, and Virgin Active Health and Fitness club. Numerous hotels, including the Sheraton Grand, the Point Hotel, Travel Inn and Caledonian Hilton Hotel, are within a short walk. The Edinburgh International Conference Centre is also located nearby.
